Shoalwater

New growth for a coastal retreat. When Shoalwater Lodge was redeveloped adding three new aged care wings, GFE worked with architects Montague Grant to create new landscaped gardens to complement the additions. The very windy and harsh alkaline coastal conditions presented challenges for plant survival and growth. The original Lodge landscaping was in poor condition.

The solution was to use plants suited to the environment, improve the soil, use water efficient irrigation and mulch.  Sheltered courtyards offered opportunities to improve the site specifically for different themes.   Within twelve months the newly landscaped areas showed more growth and development than the original landscaped areas planted 10 years earlier.
